I just applied my first pipette of FRONTLINE Plus. How long until my pet’s fleas are gone? FRONTLINE Plus will spread over the coat of your pet within 24 hours and will continue to be effective for 8 weeks on dogs and 6 weeks on cats. Any fleas that jump onto your pet will die within 8-24 hours. Be aware, however that the adult fleas on your pet represent only 5% of the total flea population. The other 95% are the eggs, larvae and pupae waiting to hatch and jump on to your pets. Pre-emerged fleas can remain dormant in the environment for up to 6 months. Research has shown that the best way to kill fleas is to break their life cycle. By applying FRONTLINE Plus continually you will deplete the flea population over time and protect your home environment.
Why can I still see fleas on my pet after I’ve applied FRONTLINE Plus? If you observe a small number of fleas, remember FRONTLINE Plus works by killing these fleas as they come into contact with the product on the pet's coat. FRONTLINE Plus is not a repellent, therefore if your pet is exposed to a source of fleas in the home or external environment, fleas may be observed on the coat from time to time. These new fleas will be killed within 24 hours. You cannot stop your pets from picking up fleas if your pet shares its environment with other pets and wildlife.

Should I re-apply FRONTLINE Plus if I see more fleas on my pet soon after application? No. FRONTLINE Plus is effective against fleas for 8 weeks on dogs and 6 weeks on cats. If you see fleas on your treated pet, these have most likely come from your pet’s environment and will soon be killed. FRONTLINE Plus kills fleas by making them hyper-excited, drawing them to the top of the hair coat before they die.
